Product detailed description
PAUSE connects to William Kentridge’s Rubrics series, where fragments of text act as prompts for thinking. The artist continuously collects phrases in his notebooks, using them as starting points – small provocations that help make sense of a world built from contradictions and incomplete narratives.
This off-white unisex T-shirt features the word PAUSE in a distinctive lapis lazuli blue, referencing the visual language of Kentridge’s Blue Rubrics. The simplicity of the word carries weight: a gesture of interruption, awareness, and personal interpretation.
Made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and finished with screen printing, the piece bridges conceptual art and everyday wear – subtle, yet loaded with meaning.

William Kentridge
William Kentridge (*1955, Johannesburg) is one of the most influential contemporary artists. His multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, printmaking, film, animation, theatre, and installation, exploring the relationship between image, time, and memory.
Deeply shaped by the political and historical context of South Africa, particularly apartheid, his work addresses themes of power, injustice, collective memory, and human responsibility. He often works through fragmentation, repetition, and shifting meaning.
Drawing remains central to his practice as a process in flux – images are never fixed but constantly erased, redrawn, and transformed. This openness gives his work a distinctive and enduring relevance.
