Elmgreen & Dragset are a Berlin-based artist duo formed by Michael Elmgreen (Denmark) and Ingar Dragset (Norway), collaborating since 1995. Their practice combines art, architecture and design and is recognized for its subversive humour and critical reflection on social structures.
They create site-specific installations and sculptures that often transform public space or institutional settings – among their most iconic works are Prada Marfa in the Texas desert and Powerless Structures, Fig. 101 on London’s Fourth Plinth.
Their projects examine identity, the politics of display, and the boundaries between public and private, using irony and staging to reveal how contemporary culture is constructed.
