Igor Hosnedl

Igor Hosnedl (b. 1988) moves along the borders of surrealism, with individual pieces evoking an emotionally ambivalent effect – oscillating between sensuality and calm on one hand, and quiet unease on the other, achieved through shifts in color and line. Each of his imagined landscapes feels simultaneously familiar and foreign.

Hosnedl moves naturally between both disciplines, drawing and painting, which he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2007–2013). The artist's practice is defined by a distinctly personal painting style built on his own hand-mixed pigments, producing unique, carefully calibrated tones, elegant forms, and a suggestive atmosphere.

His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and institutions including Eigen + Art, Leipzig (2026); Kunsthalle Bratislava (2023); Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2022); Nicodim Gallery, Bucharest (2022); and hunt kastner, Prague (2026 and 2021). His work is currently on view in the exhibition Memory of Touch: Chapter I at Kunsthalle Praha.
