Product detailed description
In 2012, Roman Ondak received the prestigious Artist of the Year award from Deutsche Bank in Berlin. On this occasion, a major exhibition titled do not walk outside this area at Deutsche Guggenheim was created, based on the project of the same name. The installation led visitors across the wing of a Boeing 737-500, which connected two exhibition rooms like a bridge.
Visitors walked across the wing in the section marked “Don’t walk outside this area”, stepping onto a normally inaccessible part of the aircraft visible only from a window. Ondak explored the perception of interior and exterior space while reflecting on the rules of the art world, where we often encounter signs such as “Do not touch” or “Keep your distance”. Ondak’s wing is therefore not an untouchable sculpture but an object we are invited to step onto.
Paper serves as a fundamental medium through which the artist conceptualizes his projects. The subject of the limited edition for Kunsthalle Praha presents an authentic drawing of this remarkable project, originally created in 2012. At the current exhibition at Kunsthalle Praha, the public is offered, for only the second time, the opportunity not only to walk across the wing but also to acquire an exceptional print distinguished by its delicate conceptual line.
