"When a person is fragile, they naturally gravitate toward fragile things. On the one hand, they hide within them; on the other, they seek strength in them," says the artist Igor Hosnedl, describing the personal impulses behind the new limited edition of drawings for Kunsthalle Praha.

In this new edition, Igor returns to the series from the eponymous exhibition Born in Blue Body, held at the Eigen + Art gallery in 2023. The series was tied to a challenging period in his personal life, as well as to the distinctive music of American musician Daniel Johnston († 2019). Now, however, he approaches the original motifs from a different stage of life – the original idea endures, but gains greater strength and energy.

The original drawings come to life through hand-finishing with coloured pencils. Both drawing and pastel hold a deeply personal place in Igor's work. Each of the 18 prints is individually hand-coloured by the artist, resulting in a collection of unique originals charged with pure emotion.

Each of the 6 motifs exists in only three copies, signed, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. As is traditional in editions publishing, prices will rise as an edition starts to sell out.

Igor Hosnedl

The work of Igor Hosnedl (b. 1988) moves along the borders of surrealism, with individual pieces evoking an emotionally ambivalent effect – oscillating between sensuality and calm on one hand, and quiet unease on the other, achieved through shifts in color and line. Each of his imagined landscapes feels simultaneously familiar and foreign. Hosnedl moves naturally between both disciplines, drawing and painting, which he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2007–2013). The artist's practice is defined by a distinctly personal painting style built on his own hand-mixed pigments, producing unique, carefully calibrated tones, elegant forms, and a suggestive atmosphere. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and institutions including Eigen + Art, Leipzig (2026); Kunsthalle Bratislava (2023); Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2022); Nicodim Gallery, Bucharest (2022); and hunt kastner, Prague (2026 and 2021). His work is currently on view in the exhibition Memory of Touch: Chapter I at Kunsthalle Praha.
