Product detailed description
Zenger Station is a striking new LP by acclaimed German sound artist Christina Kubisch, known for her pioneering work with electromagnetic induction and field recording. Released in a hand-numbered edition of just 300 copies by the Berlin-based label Edition Telemark, the album captures the often-invisible sonic layers of urban infrastructure.
The A side features “Zenger Station 1–3,” built entirely from electromagnetic field recordings taken in an operational transformer station for trams in Prague. Each part—“Ground,” “Pulses,” and “Lines”—reveals dense textures of environmental energy, turning functional noise into immersive composition.
Side B presents “A Bus Meets a Tram Meets a Trolley,” a sweeping 20-minute piece made from transport recordings in Rome, Bangkok, and Bratislava. Kubisch uses her self-developed induction headphones to uncover unheard electronic fields, offering listeners a rare chance to hear cities as electrical organisms in motion.
The LP comes housed in a full-color sleeve and includes a 4-page insert with photos, liner notes, and a deep-dive interview with the artist. A must-have for collectors of electroacoustic, ambient, or site-specific sound art.
