The REI Heroine glass by Rückl is hand-cut crystal in soft pink—celebrating irregularity and confidence through bold design inspired by Rei Kawakubo.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Crafted by the legendary Rückl glassworks and designed by Kateřina Handlová, the REI glass from the Heroine collection blends historical craftsmanship with a strong contemporary voice. Its pale pink hue and deliberately irregular organic cut challenge conventional notions of elegance—just as its muse, Rei Kawakubo, reshaped women’s fashion with her label Comme des Garçons.

Kawakubo famously designed “boyfriend” silhouettes for women and resisted the overtly sexualized styling of female clothing, creating a language of power, independence, and individuality. The REI glass echoes that ethos—subtle yet provocative, refined yet untraditional.

Hand-cut from high-quality crystal in the Rückl glassworks (est. 1846), each glass is a unique object that reflects both heritage and modernity. Ideal for water, wine, or simply as a collectible design piece.

Rückl is a traditional Czech glassworks with more than a century of history, renowned for its precision-cut crystal and distinctive decorative style. The brand was founded in 1903 and has gradually built a solid position among the icons of Czech glassmaking. Its work is based on master craftsmanship, hand-cut glass and a deep respect for a material that is symbolic of Czech culture.

The brand's current image is largely shaped by artistic director Kateřina Handlová. She grew up in a family of glass artists and has been involved with glass since high school and throughout her studies at UMPRUM. She gained experience abroad, including at the Dutch studio Thier & VanDaalen and at LASVIT, where she worked as a senior designer, and also worked in Dubai for several years. She also designed a collection of lighting fixtures for the Bomma brand. In her work, she combines an eye for detail, inspiration from fashion and oriental culture with a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship.

Under her leadership, Rückl brings a contemporary perspective to cut glass – bolder, more confident, and visually striking. Traditional techniques take on a new context here, and crystal becomes a medium for contemporary design expression. Each object is created in a Czech glassworks and is proof that quality craftsmanship and an innovative artistic approach can form a harmonious whole.

Today, Rückl represents a combination of historical heritage and modern aesthetics – a brand built on precision, courage, and the timeless beauty of Czech crystal.
