Product detailed description
The project Deus Artis summarizes nearly fifty years of photographic work by Czech cinematographer and director Jaroslav Brabec, dedicated to outstanding figures of art. Initially, his focus was on Czech artists, but it gradually expanded to include international art personalities. Visits to studios turned into visits with friends.
Among the portrayed are classics of Czech art such as Václav Boštík, Jan Zrzavý, Jiří Kolář, Zdeněk Sýkora, Alena Kučerová, Magdalena Jetelová, Adriena Šimotová, Karel Malich, Milan Grygar, Stanislav Kolíbal, and Kamil Lhoták. Also included are contemporary artists like Eva Koťátková, Krištof Kintera, Jiří Černický, Antonín Kratochvíl, Jaroslav Róna, Viktor Pivovarov, Kurt Gebauer, František Skála, Josef Koudelka, and more.
The book also presents world-renowned artists such as Ai Weiwei, Georg Baselitz, Yoko Ono, and Gerhard Richter. It includes encounters with composers (Philip Glass, Krzysztof Penderecki) and writers (Pavel Kohout, Arnošt Lustig, Lenka Reinerová and more).
Each portrait is complemented by personal texts by Jaroslav Brabec, revealing not only the portrayed artists but also insights into the author himself.
