Product detailed description
This handmade whiskey glass by Lukáš Houdek fuses 20th-century architectural rigor with surrealist imagination. Drawing inspiration from modernist masters Adolf Loos and Le Corbusier, the piece features a weighty geometric form enhanced with hand-engraved linework referencing the surreal paintings of Pablo Picasso.
With its precise shape and expressive etching, the glass stands as a hybrid between object and sculpture—crafted to elevate daily rituals while speaking to a broader artistic narrative. No two pieces are identical, and each carries its own subtle variations in engraving and form.
Blown and engraved by hand at HG ATELIER DESIGN in the Czech Republic, this piece is sold individually and intended as both a functional glass and a collectible work of design.
About the designer: Lukáš Houdek is a graduate of the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague and works in collaboration with Filip Houdek at HG ATELIER DESIGN. His work explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship, contemporary materiality, and pop-cultural references—often blending parody, hyperbole, and narrative into highly expressive glass objects.

Lukáš Houdek (*1988) is a Czech glass artist whose work is defined by humour, playfulness and a surprising lightness rarely associated with such a serious material as glass. A graduate of the UMPRUM Glass Studio under Rony Plesl, his sculptures and objects are instantly recognisable for their distinctive character and bold creative approach.
Houdek moves freely between artistic expression and design, exploring themes of pop culture, parody and material experimentation. He embraces both traditional and innovative techniques, often pushing the technical and visual boundaries of contemporary glassmaking.
After his studies, Houdek worked at Moser before contributing to the development of HG Atelier, the glass studio founded by his brother Filip. Together, they create bespoke lighting objects for private interiors and also run the Houdek.Art project, which connects glass design with the world of super sports cars. Houdek collaborates closely with designer Yulin Huang, currently associated with Lasvit.
His work has been exhibited widely — in Hong Kong, Prague, Paris, Milan, New York, Nový Bor, Taipei and many other cities. He has participated in symposia, group exhibitions and notable design festivals, including Designblok, Maison & Objet and the International Glass Symposium in Nový Bor.
Houdek represents a new generation of glassmakers who bring humour, experimentation and contemporary visual culture into the medium, expanding its expressive potential while maintaining strong craftsmanship.
