Product detailed description
Kineticism – originally published in 1941 and now reprinted in its original graphic design – presents the visionary work of sculptor and experimenter Zdeněk Pešánek. As early as the 1920s, he anticipated that the future of art would lie in electricity and emerging technologies.
The publication introduces Pešánek’s own concept of kineticism: illuminated pianos, fountains, fireworks, and neon signs, supported by numerous photographs and drawings. The volume is complemented by scholarly texts by Zdeněk Pešánek, Tomáš Pospiszyl, and Peter Weibel, providing both historical and theoretical context for kinetic art.
The book concludes with a foreword by Peter Weibel and an afterword by Tomáš Pospiszyl, both leading contemporary experts in the field of art and new technologies.
