Detailed information

Product detailed description

This print depicts a hummingbird resting on ginkgo biloba leaves. The work is inspired by a motif found at the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park subway station in Berlin.

In 2009, Gregor Hildebrandt began his rip-off painting series, where works are typically created in pairs as a positive and negative of the same design. Among them are Lieder ohne Worte and Worte ohne Lieder, made with acrylic paint and Hildebrandt’s signature magnetic tape. From these originals, a limited series of 25 giclée prints was created.

The print is available for personal pickup only. Frame not included.

Gregor Hildebrandt – German contemporary artist

Gregor Hildebrandt (b. 1974) is a German visual artist based in Berlin whose work transforms analog sound media such as cassette tapes, VHS, and vinyl records into minimalist yet emotionally-charged paintings, sculptures and installations.

His objects and wall-works explore notions of memory and archive, using the physicality of the medium to evoke the invisible traces of recorded sound and cultural history.

Hildebrandt’s works have been exhibited internationally and are included in major museum collections, such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
