Product detailed description
The limited edition catalogue for the exhibition READ at Kunsthalle Praha (2023–2024) consists of 30 signed and numbered copies, each accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The catalogue is housed in an original case resembling a book, featuring a leather spine and marbled cover. It closes with a magnet and is easily removable thanks to a red silk ribbon. Each book’s spine bears a hand-written title by the artists.
READ is Elmgreen & Dragset’s first major presentation in the Czech Republic. The exhibition concept explores the relationship between books and art, reflecting on our connection to physical books and knowledge in the digital age. The gallery space features sculptures, performances, videos, collages, and paintings, while the catalogue includes curatorial texts and expert essays in English addressing topics from the history of Czech samizdat to contemporary challenges around books, libraries, and freedom of speech. Richly illustrated, the publication documents the exhibition’s focus on the dynamic relationship between language, books, and art.

Elmgreen & Dragset
Michael Elmgreen (b. 1961, Copenhagen) and Ingar Dragset (b. 1969, Trondheim) have worked as an artist duo since 1995, based in Berlin. Their work addresses identity, belonging, and social, cultural, and political structures. Their large-scale installations blur boundaries between art, architecture, and design to create familiar yet unexpected gallery spaces.
Elmgreen & Dragset have exhibited worldwide, including Tate Modern, Victoria & Albert Museum, Serpentine Galleries, Whitechapel Gallery, UCCA Beijing, Samsung Museum of Art Seoul, Statens Museum for Kunst Copenhagen, Fondazione Prada Milan, and Centre Pompidou-Metz. In 2009, they received a special award for their exhibition The Collectors at the 53rd Venice Biennale. Their iconic works include Prada Marfa, a permanent installation of a luxury boutique in the Texas desert, and Van Gogh’s Ear, a pool-shaped sculpture displayed at Rockefeller Plaza in New York.
