Product detailed description
"One advantage I think is my design sense. When you're drawing, every element, every line, makes up what it is; and there is a feeling of that when I think about a shot." – Tim Burton
The official catalog for the exhibition at London’s Design Museum, Tim Burton: Designing Worlds, offers a comprehensive look at the creative process and visual aesthetic that have defined modern cinema. The book explores how Burton’s distinctive “Burtonesque” style influences contemporary design and visual culture.
The catalog provides a detailed analysis of the interplay between Gothic, carnival, and fantastical elements in the director’s work. Through scholarly essays and a wealth of visual material, it reveals how individual sketches and ideas evolve into iconic cinematic worlds. Readers are thus given a unique opportunity to glimpse the system through which the director constructs his unmistakable worlds.
This book, written in English, serves as an essential resource for those interested in film studies, visual arts, and modern architecture. It is a must-have addition to the library of anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the role of design practice in contemporary culture.
