Remember the moment when a sparkler is lit and everyone falls silent for a second? The Scintilla Christmas ornament captures that fleeting beauty. Created through a collaboration between Rautis and design studio LLEV, it is part of the Random Collection, which explores the tension between order and chaos. Its distinctive shape evokes scattered sparks, bringing a touch of festive shimmer to the Christmas tree.
The ornament also features a new colouring technique applied to the primary glass bead component, known as a klauče. Behind its creation lies an exceptional craft tradition. Rautis is based in Poniklá in the Krkonoše Mountains, the only place in the world where traditional glass bead-making has been preserved to this day. The craft dates back to the 1870s, with knowledge and skills passed down through generations. In 2020, this unique tradition was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
