Zdeněk Pešánek: Kinetismus EN

That the future of art lay in electricity and new technologies had already been foreseen in the 1920s by sculptor and experimenter Zdeněk Pešánek. He himself worked with light, music and electricity in his art and created light-kinetic sculptures. He strove to implement a newly created technique – kineticism. This unique publication, which was ahead of its time, presented the concept of kinetic art and also Pešánek’s own schema of lit up pianos, fountains, fireworks and neon signs. Descriptions are accompanied by numerous photographs and sketches. Kineticism is published today in the same graphic style as its first edition in the 1940s. It is complemented by a foreword from Peter Weibel and an afterword by Tomáš Pospiszyl, two of the most renowned contemporary experts in art and new technology.
