Detailed information

Product detailed description

Roman Ondak: Event Horizon was published on the occasion of the exhibition “Roman Ondak: Infinitum” at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies Barcelona (12 May – 23 Nov 2023). With more than four hundred illustrations including installations, photographs, drawings, videos, and performances spanning three decades, this is the most comprehensive monograph on Ondak’s work to date.

Slovak artist Roman Ondak works across installation, photography, video, drawing, and performance, often involving people with whom he has a personal connection. Growing up in Czechoslovakia under an autocratic regime shaped his understanding of society as a structure defined by systems of inclusion and exclusion.

Ondak’s work investigates the failures of these systems while revealing the potential of alternative social and political models. His pieces often convey the sense that reality has been subtly readjusted—reflecting his response to the propagandistic manipulation of image and language during his formative years.
