Detailed information

Product detailed description

In fairy tales, wolves inspire fear, especially among little kids, girls in the forest, and the three little pigs... The superhero comic Wolf's Whistle by Norwegian artist Bjorn Rune Lie, praised by British comic critics as "a brilliant authorial piece where Richard Scarry meets Wes Anderson," tells what happened before the wolf became a capricious loner. Little wolf Albert works at a comic magazine office. Although he dreamed of becoming a successful comic author, instead of drawing he makes coffee, sorts mail, cleans, and peels gum off under tables. Since childhood, he loved comics, especially about superheroes. He adored adventure: suspense, secret identities, and special powers. But if he learned anything from comics, it was to distinguish between what is good and bad, between good and evil. Whenever someone was in trouble, Albert did not hesitate to help. Unlike comic heroes, little Albert is the victim of the three sons of the greatest mafia boss ever—evil piglets who constantly humiliate him and his gang. This book by the Norwegian-born illustrator is funny, unpretentious, pokes fun at superheroes, comics, and classic fairy tales, yet tells a genuine, touching story. (And for perceptive adults reading with children, it is also a story about the book culture of the second half of the twentieth century.)
