This narrative book presents the work of this Brno native performer and conceptual artist Vladimír Ambroz for the first time. In the 1970s, he wanted to give his life a more urgent meaning and at the same time reflect on a distorted era. That is why he would watch an unbearable TV show all day, park himself in the street like a car, or drive into the city with a mirror in hand, and set it all up for everything that seemed strange to him. The current, virtually unknown activity of Vladimír Ambroz in the field of performance, interventions in public spaces, and manifestations close to staged photography lasted only a few years. In the second half of the seventies, he belonged to the circle of the Brno art scene operating outside of the official institutions of the time. Ambroz's works from this period reflect general themes of civilisation and at the same time respond to the dark atmosphere of peak normalisation. In the environment of Czechoslovak performance, they are unique in their emphasis on the expression of photographic documentation. This is not only by a means of capturing performance, but also by being close to a staged or aesthetically impressive conceptual photography. He was the first person in our country to combine performance art with video. This predominantly illustrated book Vladimír Ambroz: Action conveys the artist's archive with complete documentation of his realised and unrealised art. Further, it places Vladimír Ambroz's work within Czechoslovak and world performance scene in a text written by an art historian Tomáš Pospiszyl. Vladimír Ambroz is also mentioned in the book by his friends and collaborators of the time, Petr Štembera, Marian Palla, and Pavel Büchler.
