Lunchmeat Studio – FRAGMENT

Can old industrial buildings function alongside contemporary society? Some find them fascinating and others don't, or even see them as a burden. The limited edition of Lunchmeat Studio, Fragment, shows us their raw beauty.

As part of the exhibition The Grief of Misfit Cathedrals  a print was created on the border of photography and printmaking. Like the exhibition, the Fragment print is based on the phenomenon of abandoned industrial buildings. It represents them with a simple piece of concrete, which Lunchmeat Studio uses to arouse interest in the eyes of the audience, invites them to examine it more closely and elevates the piece of concrete to the main object of our interest. Does it levitate? Does it fly towards the ground or away from it?

The fragment is printed with a laser beam on a photosensitive material. The technology, which is rarely used today, offers a stunning quality of detail and is directly linked to the nature of the limited edition. This type of print is subject to the elements, just like buildings it will take on a life of its own and it is up to you how much time you give it.
