Bubblegum

TheBubblegum vase belongs to the Narcissus collection, which consists of silver mirrored vases with hand-painted portraits made of densely blown and broken glass.

The vases consist of two parts: the inner vase, created by a special silver plating technology, and its shell with the portrait. The artist first painted the outer parts of the vases with portraits of people we meet every day. They laugh, chew a chewing gum, send air kisses or wonder about something. Marieta then smashed the portrait parts with a hammer to achieve the fragmentation that connects the viewer's image to the painting. Each one is original in painting, colour combination and breakage, so each motif exists only once.

Marieta Tedenac

Marieta went through the design and fine art academic training. She received an MA in Glass from the Academy of Art Architecture and Design in Prague while studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague; completed study internship in the Glass studio at the Rhode Island School of Design. As a designer Marieta started working with glass and other transparent materials. This fact brought her to optics and related natural phenomenons that surround us. Marieta creates objects that contain elements of craft, science and technology.
